Celebrate Austin’s favorite furry flying friends at the 11th Annual Bat Fest on Saturday, August 22 from 4 p.m. – midnight on the Congress Ave. Bridge! You’ll find 3 stages with live music, more than 75 arts & crafts vendors, plenty food & drinks, fun children’s activities, a bat costume contest and plenty of bat-themed activities!

–> Bat Costume Contest: Take a chance at winning $100 for Best Adult Costume and $100 for best children’s costume. Participants will be lined up on stage, and the crowd will be asked to yell for the costume they like the best. Originality is encouraged, of course.

–> Music Schedule: There are three stages of live music! So you can enjoy some fun tunes anytime during the fest. Here’s the schedule, organized by stage:

Austin360 Stage:

Lake Side Stage:
(located in park on South side of bridge in trees behind Statesman Stage)

  • 8:00 p.m. – Alpha Rev
  • 9:15 p.m. – Henry & the Invisibles

— Bat Viewing: 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats head out for their nightly flight, and you can hopefully see it during Bat Fest! It is hard to predict exactly when the bats will emerge, but the flight usually begins between 7:00 – 8:45 p.m. For current emergence times call 512-327-9721 EX16. Bat Conservation International will have a festive booth on the bridge for more info about Austin’s bats.
