This seems so exciting! The Austin Bike Zoo is presenting “a pedal-powered Shakespearean Fantasy” with their rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Appropriately titled, Midsummer in Motion, the production will feature bikes (duh) and music from The Inheritance, as well as performers from Sky Candy.

Sky Candy is an aerial studio in East Austin. “What’s an aerial studio?” you say. Glad you asked. An aerial studio is a place where people practice to be aerial performers, much like what you see in Cirque ‘du Soleil with all the ribbons and bars and what have you. Sky Candy offers lessons, as well as creates plays they interpret aerially (wow, that IS a word).

“The Austin Bike Zoo cordially invites you to pedal on down to Republic Square Park and Brush Square for a circus-commedia-gender-bending-Midsummer-Night’s-Dream-for-the-whole-family . . . ON BIKES!” – Austin Bike Zoo’s Facebook.

Performances will be totally FREE at 7:30 p.m. on May 24, 26 & 31, and June 2 & 3 at Republic Square Park. Also, June 1 at Brush Square Park.

Also, the Austin Bike Zoo is looking for volunteers to be bike riders and fairy extras! People of all ages can apply! Contact for more information!
