NOTE: You are not allowed to swim or tube in this area of the Colorado River.
Secret Beach is down a dirt path and hidden behind some bushes. Pretty vague, right? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back with a step-by-step to help you find this secluded location. It’s shallow, it’s sandy, and it almost always has water; making it a perfect spot for younger kids to play.
Secret Beach is located inside Roy G. Guerrero Park (map). Take E. Riverside to Grove Blvd., go all the way to the end, and you will find yourself in a parking lot, facing a trail.
This trail will lead you to Secret Beach. A short walk will lead you to a split, go right. The split looks like this:
Keep walking until you see a pretty sketchy right turn. This is the only part of the trail that’s even remotely difficult. The only reason it’s difficult is because it’s sand so it’s easy to lose your footing. We’ve seen people with large ice chests and small babies have a little trouble (so keep that in mind). But they always make it unscathed.
Secret Beach is pretty sweet for families. Bring your toy shovels and buckets for a sand castle. The kids love playing in the sand, and there are rocks that are perfect for skipping! Bring your toy shovels and buckets for a sand castle.
This is a swifter part of the Colorado River, so please keep a close watch on really young kids to be safe. This is a nice place to relax, and sunbathe and there’s plenty of room to throw a Frisbee or a ball around.
