Check out museums, hold tiny animals, get weird or play laser tag ALL NIGHT… here are our top 10 Austin family events this weekend!
Today:
— Your hard-to-please teenager would have a great time at the Zap Into the New Year Lock-In at Blazer Tag, where they can play endless laser tag and games, have a dance party, play trivia and win awesome prizes! Check-in starts at 11 pm tonight and pick up is tomorrow morning at 7 am. $21.95 per person, get your tickets here.
— Get weird in the New Year with the Blue Man Group, performing tonight at the Long Center at 8 pm. Their theatrical show is fun for all ages and cultures, tickets start at $29 and you can purchase them here.
— If you need a night out, there are two Parent’s Night Out events tonight. Rolly Pollies will entertain the kids from 6:30 – 9:30 pm for $25 (info), or you can drop kids off at Texas Jumping Beans from 5 – 10 pm for $15 (info).
Saturday:
— Hold tiny animals at Awesome Animal Mornings at Millie & Mox, thanks to Tiny Tails to You Petting Zoo, who will be on site letting your littles hold and pet furry littles. You can even get a free picture to prove it! Free, 10 – 11 am.
— See Steve, the improvising poodle and help him have an adventure in What’s the Story Steve? at ColdTowne Theater from 10 – 10:50 am. Pay what you wish! The theater can only hold 39 people, so get there a little early to be sure you get a seat.
— Baby Bloomers at the Thinkery is a museum experience specially designed for ages 3 and under. There will be stories, songs and activities starting at 9 am for $2.50 for members and $4.50 for non members.
— Olympia Hills Gymnastics in Buda will celebrate its Grand Opening with an Open House from 1 – 6 pm where families can enjoy gymnastic exhibitions, games, hands on activities, light refreshments, gym tours and more, all for free. If you enroll at the Open House, the gym will waive the $30 registration free!
Sunday:
— Start the day with a free Kids Show with the Que Pastas at Cherrywood Coffeehouse at 10 am!
— Family Day at Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum will offer free admission and activities from 12 – 4 pm. Families can enjoy yoga, a story time, sculpture demos and a performance from Hideout Theatre.
— Free First Sunday at the Bullock Museum will have special programming for families like Totally Texas Activities, a TEXploration story time and crafts, all for free, from 12 – 6 pm.
