Berry Springs Park and Preserve / 1801 C.R. 152 Georgetown, TX 78626 / Playscape: Yes / Splashpad: No / Pool: No / Bathrooms: Yes

Berry Creek Park and Preserve is a former homestead just north of Georgetown. It features a spring fed pond, historic homestead buildings (and donkeys!), playground, and miles of walking/biking trails. The gravel paths are pretty flat, so they are suitable for bikes and strollers. This park is so spacious that even when a lot of people are there, it doesn’t seem crowded.

The donkeys are very friendly, especially if they think you have something for them to eat. A sign on the fence says you are allowed to feed them one apple, carrot, or handful of grass per person. We forgot donkey snacks last time we went, but we will remember next time.

Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables and benches located throughout the park. It’s a really great place for a picnic.

Fishing: Catch-and-release fishing is allowed in the spring-fed pond.

Shade: The huge pecan trees make a lot of shade, but the walking trails are very sunny. Take your hike first, maybe early in the day, and then find a shady spot to rest or have a picnic.

Parking: Follow the driveway back by the donkeys and you’ll find a parking lot convenient to the playground and the bathrooms.

Notes: Bring water, hats and sunscreen. And snacks for the donkeys.
