Friday:

Ski Shores Cafe’s 60th Anniversary Party kicks off on Friday night with lots of family fun. At dusk you can enjoy free s’mores (yum!) while watching Frozen and check out a magic show, too! During the entire weekend, you can watch ski exhibitions, enjoy live music and get hot dogs, cookies, chips and salsa for only .54 cents!

— It’s National Video Games Day, and that means you’ve got to play just a game or two! Check out our list of kid-friendly arcades in Austin. Or stop into Pinballz Arcade where you can play one-token games from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Saturday:

— The entire family can have a blast at Northwest Recreation Center for the Family Fun Fest and Diaper Drive from 10 a.m. –  1 p.m. You can expect goody bags and giveaways, magic shows, costumed characters, a bouncy house, food trucks, classes for kids, and much more! Donations of size 4 diapers will be appreciated.

—  Austin Tie Dye Co. is having a grand opening Tie Dye Party from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., and you are invited to drop in and create an awesome t-shirt. Stop in and learn how to create different tie dye patterns, do some screen printing, and walk away with a cool new t-shirt for only $10 (or $5 if you bring your own shirt)!

— The whole family can head to the MACC (Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center) from  7 -10 p.m. for ¡VIVA MÉXICO!  Celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day with music, art and tradition at this free, annual event.

— If your little artist wants to try something new, how about building a light sculpture? From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., you can drop into the  The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria for hands-on art-making workshops for children ages 2 – 11. Go create something amazing!

— Take the kids to meet butterflies, caterpillars, moths and more on Monarch Appreciation Day at Zilker Botanical Garden from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This fun, family-friendly event will include lots of crafts for kids as well as gardening tips, a plant sale, guided tours of the Butterfly Trail, lectures and more!

— Sometimes it’s hard to find events geared just towards teens. So don’t miss this fun, free party at Austin Rec Center from noon – 6 p.m. SoLongSummer Music Festival is specifically for teens and includes a great music lineup, in addition to an art music project, a video game contest, and basketball, BMX and skateboarding competitions.

Sunday:

HOPE Farmers Market is planning some good, old-fashioned fun from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.. Take the kids to the free East Side County Fair for some carnival-style fun, a petting zoo, cake walk, face painting and kid-friendly music!

— Kids of all ages will get the giggles at the lively children’s play at The Scottish Rite Theater showing at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Too Many Stories! asks children in the audience to help a character named Callie outwit robbers through story, music, and improvisation.
