Friday:
— The Bullock Texas State History Museum is hosting the family-friendly Spooktacular from 5-8 p.m. Put on your costumes and head over to the museum for the Halloween extravaganza, featuring performances, games, activities, art, and more for kids ages five and up. Free!
— Take a trip to Halloween Town at the Northwest Recreation Center from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This annual Halloween event features a Trick or Treat Path & Carnival for all ages. Free!
— If you’re looking for some really frightening fun, head over to Pioneer Farms from 7-10 p.m. to Search the Haunted Trails. $12 per person.
— Visit the Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary after-hours for Boo at the Zoo where everything will be illuminated and decorated for Halloween. Go in costume, ride the Haunted Train and explore the Haunted House. Tickets $12.50 per person, ages 2 and up.
Saturday:
— Throw on your costumes and head over to The Domain for a big Halloween Party on the Plaza from 3-5 p.m. Check out frightfully fun activities from Halloween crafts and a cake walk to live music by Superband and a balloon twister. Kids can trick-or-treat, get their face painted, or stop by the mini pumpkin patch for a photo, too. Free!
— Head to the Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary for the Bump Club’s Little Zoo Boo, where you can enjoy a live animal show, kids music and all sorts of Halloween family fun from 10 a.m. – noon. Tickets are $30 for 1 adult + 1 child, $45 for 2 adults + 1 child and $10 for each additional child and $15 for each additional adult. Ticket price includes zoo admission, lunch, tricks and treats. — Dittmar Recreation Center will be hosting its annual Halloween Spooktacular at 7:45 p.m. which will consist of a carnival with food and games; a haunted house, and a Movie in the Park showing of Hocus Pocus. Free!
— From 2 – 9 p.m. you can take the kids to the Dell Diamond for the Annual Halloween at the Y event. You’ll find tons of games, food, and kids activities. $6 entrance fee.
— The Spooky Skedaddle is Austin’s only Halloween-themed 5K, a 1K Fun Run and benefits the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation and its mission to support the over 5000 deaf and hard of hearing children in Texas. From 3 – 7p.m., there will be plenty of fun and games at the Texas School for the Deaf. Free admission! To learn more about race fees and registration, click here.
— Take the kids to BookPeople at 11:30 a.m. for a Monster Mash Storytime. Free!
Sunday:
–The Austin Symphony presents its annual Halloween Children’s Concert at 2 p.m. at the Long Center, featuring mindchilling songs that are entertaining for all ages! The entire family is encouraged to join in on the fun and dress to impress in their favorite costumes while attending a concert full of “boo-tiful” music. Tickets from $8.
— Enjoy a screening of Hocus Pocus at Blue Starlite Drive-in at 7:30 p.m. with a a special Charlie Brown pre-show. Ticket prices range from $5-15 plus concession options, which you can purchase online here.
— Check out the Pumpkin Carving Competition at Umlauf Sculpture Garden from noon – 4 p.m. Learn the tricks of the trade to carving a jack-o’-lantern from Professor Pumpkin. Then enter your masterpiece in the competition to win bragging rights and prizes. Admission is free when you bring three healthy, nonperishable food items to donate to the Capital Area Food Bank.
