Ice Rink at the Whole Foods Plaza Rooftop
Through January 7,  10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
The Whole Foods Market Downtown location offers ice skating right on their rooftop! The rink is always open to the public on Friday evenings and all day & evening on Saturdays and Sundays. The rink will occasionally be closed for private parties, so it’s best to check the website to confirm public skating hours before you go. Admission is $10 per person.

Holiday Lights & Ice @ Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa
Dec. 16 – Jan. 1, various times
The Holiday Lights & Ice event features a 4,000 square foot ice rink and a special “Light the Night” kick-off production on Dec. 16 with a festive holiday laser light show. The public is also invited to skate on the resort’s indoor ice rink overlooking scenic hill country views and a display of twinkling lights. Holiday-inspired treats and hot beverages will be served along with ornament and gingerbread cookie decorating in Santa’s Workshop.  Skating tickets are available for purchase by phone at (512) 329-4616. Chaparral Ice Center
Open daily; special holiday events noted below
This indoor rink is open year-round for public skating. Admission is $6 and skate rental is $4 for children and adults. Kids 5 years old & under skate for only $5 on Saturdays & Sundays. Kids 5 & under skate for free during Monday-Friday afternoon public sessions with paid admission (excluding holidays).

  • Skate with Santa: Saturday, Dec. 3, 12-2 p.m.
    Free photos with Santa, hot cocoa and baked goodies, Christmas crafts, and the chance to glide around the ice with the Jolly Old Elf himself! Click here for more info.
  • A Merry Happy Holiday Birthday, Chaparral: Saturday, Dec. 10, 7 p.m.
    Chaparral is celebrating 20 years with a holiday ice show and birthday party, featuring figure skating, hockey, curling, and sled hockey. Public session skating party following the show. Tickets start at $5 and up and are available online here.

Eisbahn (Fredericksburg, TX)
Through January 2, times vary
Eisbahn (“ice rink” in German) returns to Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg for the 12th consecutive year, offering seasonal ice skating in the Texas Hill Country to raise funds for the Heritage School and Cystic Fibrosis.  All day pass includes skate rental. Open daily but closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Open New Year’s Eve from 10 am to 2 pm; New Year’s Day from 2 to 10 pm; January 2 from 10 am to 10 pm and January 3 from 1 to 8 pm. $10 per person per day. Click here for more info.
