It’s a great year for bluebonnets! We’re ready to grab the camera and take the kids to snap some family photos in these pretty fields of wildflowers. But where are the best places to go? We asked Christina Muchow, the expert at Hatched Photography, for advice about finding the most picture-perfect bluebonnet settings, and here are her top 5 picks for the 2017 season:
1. Brushy Creek Lake Park
Due to flooding last year the large fields of Bluebonnets weren’t able to bloom, however, its looking like the flowers will be back.
2. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
With 279 acres and displaying over 800 native plans, including Bluebonnets, the Wildflower Center is a wonderful place to explore.
3. St. Edwards University
Bluebonnets bloom next to historic buildings and you have a great view of downtown.
4. 45th & Bull Creek
Large, open field next to the Txdot building with beautiful flowers.
5. Highway 360
Bluebonnets line this beautiful, scenic highway, best seen between Hwy 183 to Mopac.
Other good locations include:
- Manchaca Road (beside the Pedernales Electric Cooperative)
- Old Settler’s Park
- McKinney Falls State Park
- Roy Guerrero Park (Metropolis Rd)
- Park Hill Church (2222/Mopac)
- Hwy 71
- Quinlan Park Rd. in Steiner Ranch
Thank you, Hatched Photography, for this great info and gorgeous photos!
