Congrats to the Austin Parks and Recreation Department! Their Climbing to New Heights program has been selected as a winner of the national Parks Build Community campaign and will receive a $20,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Walt Disney Company.

The Austin Nature & Science Center’s Climbing to New Heights program was one of 15 projects selected to receive grant funding in the United States. The $20,000 grant will help fund the Austin Nature & Science Center (ANSC) in obtaining an outdoor climbing wall or tower for use on ANSC property.  The ANSC currently leads rock climbing excursions for approximately two hundred 9-18 year olds each year.  This grant will expand the program and help reach both family groups and younger participants.  The climbing structure will be used as an introductory climb for younger participants and will also be more accessible for family groups.

We look forward to this cool future addition to the Austin Nature & Science Center!
