The Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry invites families to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day at a special event on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29. You can attend Close Assault, an event focused on the 36th Infantry Division in WWII with an honor to all of America’s veterans. With presentations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, you’ll get to see a Sherman tank and jeeps rumble by you as you watch a recreated combined arms assault on a German strongpoint.
The 45,000 square foot Texas Military Forces Museum showcases historic flags, uniforms, weapons, equipment, radios, tanks, helicopters, artillery, jets and more. This is a really interesting place for the kids to learn about history. The Museum will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days, and admission is free.
The events will take place rain or shine. Concessions will be available.
Take note that while anyone can visit Camp Mabry, adults must show a photo ID such as a driver’s license to come on post.
