— Join the Austin community at Fan Fare Friday for pancakes, a kids concert, games and more to support Family Eldercare’s annual summer fan drive at Threadgill’s World Headquarters downtown. There are activities for all ages happening from 7 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. Your donation of new box fans (or dollars) will help families in need stay cool during summer months. — To celebrate the release of Pixar’s Finding Dory, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is throwing a fun Family Carnival at 10 a.m. at their South Lamar location. You’ll get to enjoy a fishing booth, memory match games, some silly run around games and snap some pics in the “underwater” photo booth before watching the film. Admission is $12.50, and tickets can be purchased online here.
— Take the little ones to an interactive play from Pollyanna Theatre Company. Cowboy in the Kitchen invites kids ages 2-4 get to join in on the fun with the actors. You’ll be able to catch a show today at 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. at the Long Center (and tomorrow, too). Tickets are $6.50, which you can purchase online here.
— Cool down with the whole family on Saturday, June 18 at the TownLake YMCA for their Splish Splash Pool Bash! Everyone is invited (even those who are not current members of the Y) from 1- 4 p.m. for pool games, music, noodle races, snow cones and more!
— Independence Brewing Company is hosting a special Day for Dads at the brewery today starting at 1 p.m. Celebrate Dads with Redbird Flight Simulators, chair massages, hair and beard trims by Boardroom for Men, and music by Kathy and the Killowatts from 3-5 p.m.
— Check out a free block party today from 1-8 p.m.! The 2ND Street Soundcheck is a family-friendly community event featuring 24 local music artists and dozens of options for food, drinks, shopping, a kids dance zone and more. Everyone is welcome to come check out the concerts in the downtown 2nd street district, and while the events are free, you’re encouraged to give a $5 donation going directly to the beneficiaries, KUTX and the Austin Music Foundation. — — Sign the kids up for Kids Kraft, an art workshop for grades K-2 at the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden and Museum. This series of Saturday art workshops features art-making with natural and recycled materials. Workshops are held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The session is $10 for members and $15 non-members, and all art supplies are included. To register to participate, please click here.
— Visit the Woodland Faerie Trail by Moonlight at the Zilker Botanical Garden and experience magic! This is a great chance to view the annual trail of faerie & gnome homes. Entertainers, music and cold treats will be available. $6 per adult non-resident, $4 per adult residents. $2 for children (ages 3-12) & seniors (age 62 & over). No registration required. — Beer, Bourbon and BBQ. That’s exactly what dad will get at Treaty Oak Distilling Co.’s first annual Father’s Day BBQ Social from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Enjoy a BBQ Buffet with Texas native meats, live music, and a hot shave chair. Compete in the washer pitching tournament, learn how to make a proper Manhattan, Martini and an Old Fashioned in the “Drink Like a Dad” Cocktail Class.
