— It’s the last day to visit the Woodland Faerie Trail at the Zilker Botanical Garden to view the assortment of faerie & gnome homes. Admission to the garden is $3 for non-Austin residents, $2 for Austinites, $1 for children and seniors. Hours are 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
— Take the kids to a free screening of Guardians of the Galaxy at 8 p.m., presented by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema & Mobile Loaves and Fishes at the Community First! Village. Grab chairs, a blanket, family & friends. Concession sales and tips help the Community First! friends. Bring a flashlight & bug spray.
— Bring the whole family to Fiesta Gardens at 8 a.m. for the 7th annual Colorado River Ramble to race by kayak, canoe or SUP. All paddler’s are welcome to this event that benefits the Expedition School Fund. There will also be live music and food trucks! Click here to register for the race.
— Let the kids get muddy at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center! Celebrate the wonders of mud in the Family Garden at the International Mud Day event from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Kids can explore bugs and other organisms that live in dirt, make seed balls, & craft mud into works of art. Kids should come dressed for the mess. Admission to the Wildflower Center is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children 13 & up, $4 for children ages 5-12, and free for children ages 4 & younger as well as members.
— Head over to McKinney Falls State Park for a Rock Skipping Contest at 1 p.m.! All ages can participate, and prizes will be awarded for the winners. While participating in the Rock Skipping Contest is free, there are entrance fees for the park of $6 for ages 13 & up, and kids 12 & under are free. Click here to read more about McKinney Falls.
— Take the kids to a free screening of Ratatouille at the Bullock Museum. Their Summer Free Family Film Series happens every other Saturday. No tickets or RSVP required. These movies start at 2 p.m. in the Texas Spirit Theater on the 2nd floor of the museum.
— The annual Splash Party Movie Nights at Deep Eddy Pool kick off tonight at 8 p.m. with Star Wars – The Force Awakens. Bring the kids and meet your friends for a picnic on the hill, and then float in the cool water as you watch a film on the big screen. Pool entrance fees for Austin residents are $1 for a child (1-11), $2 for a junior (12-17), $3 for an adult (18-62), and $1 for a senior (62+).
— It’s H-E-B Kids Day with the Round Rock Express. Take the to the baseball game at the Dell Diamond. This week there’s a special Spike toothbrush holder giveaways for kids 12 & under as well as visit from the Paw Patrol! Everyone’s favorite rescue dogs are bringing the Roll Patrol experience to Central Texas, complete with VIP character photo opportunities, a play area, exclusive giveaways and a “Canine Companion” dog training session.
