We had the pleasure of seeing Mary Poppins at ZACH Theatre, and our faces still hurt from smiling through the entire production! Based on the stories of P.L. Travers and made popular for decades of children through the Walt Disney film, this Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s production is not to be missed. Read all about it…

Anyone who loves the movie version of Mary Poppins, should most definitely experience the theatrical magic that comes from this stage adaptation. You’ll be delighted by the familiar, cheerful songs such as “Spoon Full of Sugar” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”. You’ll be wowed by the amazing choreography. And you’ll be charmed by Mary Poppins herself, just as much as any child could adore this practically perfect nanny.

The entire cast of this production, led by director Dave Steakley, is beaming with talent and energy, making every complicated song and dance number look effortless. But you can’t help but be simply captivated by the stars of the show, Jill Blackwood as Mary Poppins and Matthew Redden as Bert. It’s hard to imagine a better duo to portray these iconic characters. The fun that this cast was having on stage was radiant and infectious.

We just loved the big song and dance numbers, led by choreographer Robin Lewis. The rainbow-colored version of “Jolly Holiday” was pure visual candy. And our absolute favorite scene was the chimney sweeps’ tapdancing version of “Step in Time.” Amazing.
