This weekend is packed with live music, theatre, and family fun! See Mary Poppins, Shrek The Musical or The Addams Family on stage. Go to a free outdoor concert, enter a TopGolf tournament, paint in the park at McKinney Falls, celebrate Christmas in July and honor Lady Bird Johnson at the Wildflower Center.
— Mary Poppins has arrived at ZACH Theatre! See this practically perfect nanny in the big musical production. Tonight’s show is at 7:30 p.m., but you can also catch a weekend matinee. — Alamo Drafthouse and Mobile Loaves & Fishes invite you to a free movie night featuring Jurassic World at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family. Event begins at 8 p.m. and the movie begins at sundown. Candy, popcorn, water and sodas will be available for purchase (cash only).
— The Bullock Museum’s annual free summer concert series, Music Under the Star, continues tonight from 6-9 p.m. on the museum’s Lone Star Plaza with music Quiet Company and Riders Against the Storm. Bring the whole family, camp chairs, and blankets to enjoy the show! No outside food or alcohol is allowed, but patrons may purchase beer, soda, and food at the event. Free parking in the garage!
— This morning you can join a park ranger at McKinney Falls for Painting in the Park at 9 a.m. for some nature-inspired art-making. All materials will be provided. For all ages. Free with regular park admission: $6 for adults, free for kids 12 & under.
— TopGolf is hosting a KidZone Tournament for some friendly competition! A $35 entry gets your kid a Tournament T-Shirt, 2 hours of Topgolf Game play, and the chance at winning awesome prizes for the following age groups: 6-9, 10-13, 14-17. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the competition starts at 8 a.m.
— Take the kids to see Shrek The Musical at the Zilker Hillside Theatre! Tonight through August 13, you can catch this FREE show on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:15 p.m. (You can arrive as early as 6 p.m. to get a good spot.) Admission is free, and donations are very much appreciated. At 7 p.m. the kids are invited on stage for the Ogre Swamp Stomp (dancing with the cast). Here’s all to know before you go.
— Summer Stock Austin is presenting a musical adaptation of The Addams Family at the Long Center today at 7:30 p.m. or tomorrow at 2 p.m. Join the magnificently morbid world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and Lurch. — Head on over to the Wildflower Center to honor its founder, Lady Bird Johnson, and all that she did for our nation’s treasured environment on Lady Bird Day. Admission is free today from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Listen to story time, make flower crafts, view a short film about Mrs. Johnson, join a guided tour and check out book signings in the store.
