Take the plunge into 2017! If you’re up for a frosty cold swim to kick off the new year on Sunday, Jan. 1, you can choose from a few places around Austin to satisfy your inner polar bear.

Polar Bear Splash 2017 @ Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park, 9:30 a.m.
Head to Barton Springs for the annual Polar Bear Splash. Admission to the pool is free! Save Our Springs Alliance will be set up with our commemorative shirts for sale, and free coffee and donuts! Everything is first come, first serve. So, get there early, bring your friends and family to enjoy the inviting 68 degree water. Group costumes and plunges are welcome.

Pfreeze Pflop in Pflugerville @ Scott Mentzer Pool, 10 a.m.
Pflugerville residents, are you brave enough to slide into the pfrigid water at Scott Mentzer Pool to kick off your new year? The event lasts until the last brave soul goes down the slide! The pool is not heated. Free admission with the donation of a canned food item to benefit local food banks. For information, click here.

Polar Bear Splash @ Kyle Pool
Take part in the 13th annual Kyle tradition. There is no admission charge to take part in the Polar Bear Splash, but for $30 you can join the Polar Bear Club and get a sweatshirt, tickets for door prizes and an annual pool pass. Pool doors open at 1 p.m. and the splash starts at 1:30 p.m. Click here for more info.
