— Did you know today is Penguin Day? Neither did we, but we are all for celebrating these adorable animals. Austin Public Library’s Faulk Central Branch invites you to head over at 10:30 a.m. for a special Celebrate Penguin Day Storytime featuring stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, and crafts. Free! Recommended for children aged 5 and under.
— The Amazing Acro-cats are back at the Paramount Theatre this weekend! See this troupe of real rescued house cats that jump and pounce in a live stage show. — Art for the People Gallery is hosting a free Opening Reception from 6:30 – 9 p.m. for their 1st exhibition of 2017, ART for All + ALL for Art. Art for the People & Art From the Streets have come together to create this special exhibition of art created by homeless and formerly homeless artists. All are welcome to head over and check it out.

— Celebrate the Year of the Rooster at the Vietnamese American Community of Austin’s New Year: Tet Celebration at Travis County Expo Center. Enjoy cultural performances, dragon dance, food vendors and more. Admission is $5 for the daytime (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.) and $30 for the evening gala(7 -12 p.m.). Children under age 8 are free!
— Are you starting to make summer plans for the kids? Be sure to stop by Austin Family Magazine’s 19th Annual Summer Camp Fair at Palmer Events Center from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Kids can try out camp activities. Parents can meet the camp operators and counselors. It’s all free!
— Head over to the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center for the “Mommy, Daddy, and Me” Book Club at 11:30 a.m. This free event will be led by Yolanda King, a mom and local children’s book author. It’s more important than ever to be an ally to our friends and neighbors, and this FREE event features activities and performances that celebrate togetherness and positive change.
