We can’t wait to see Disney’s upcoming film A Wrinkle in Time, based on the classic sci-fi/fantasy novel by Madeleine L’Engle with an all-star cast featuring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine and directed by Ava DuVernay. The film will hit theaters on March 9, and Austin families can enjoy some of the opening weekend excitement at one of Alamo Drafthouse’s fun Family Parties — March 10 at the Slaughter Lane location and March 11 at the Lakeline location. At each Family Party, you can enjoy themed crafts and hands-on activities before the movie screening.
A Wrinkle in Time follows the follows the story of Meg Murry, her brother, and her friend on their journey to find her father, a missing scientist. When she learns he’s being held captive across the galaxy by a multidimensional force of evil, the children team up with three mysterious astral voyagers, traveling across space and time to get him back.
A Wrinkle in Time is packed with colorful, magical scenes and also focuses on the positive theme of being a source of light and chasing away darkness. Check out the trailer below:

The Alamo Drafthouse Mueller location is also hosting A Wrinkle in Time STEM Fair on Friday, March 16. Your ticket to that event includes a science fair-style event from 10 – 11 a.m. in Barrel O’ Fun with hands-on activities presented by Thinkery, The Tinkering School and Women in Engineering Program at UT Austin.
