Can you believe that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Zilker Summer Musical?! Attending these shows is an Austin tradition that we hold dear. It’s always fun to spend a night out with the kids enjoying a picnic, cuddling on a blanket, and watching a big Broadway musical under the stars in Zilker Park — for free! This year, Zilker Theatre Productions presents a high-energy Elvis-inspired show, All Shook Up. You can catch a performance every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8:15 p.m. on the Zilker Hillside Theater from July 6 – August 18.

All Shook Up is a toe-tapping summer story of love, laughter and leather jackets that promises to have you dancing on The Hillside. Set in a stuffy 1950s town, the characters fall in love to the strains of 25 of Elvis’ most recognizable hits, including: Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, and Can’t Help Falling in Love. All Shook Up celebrates diversity, inclusion, and the importance of following your dreams. It’s a rock and roll musical perfect for a music-loving city such as Austin.
Do512 Family is a very proud sponsor of this year’s production, and we love that it provides a free night of family entertainment. For some extra excitement for the kids, we suggest that you plan on attending on a Saturday for the Kids’ Saturday Night Sock Hop Pre-Show where we parents and children can get a glimpse at show props and costumes, as well as a chance to learn some of the show’s choreography. These Sock Hops will take place down on the stage each Saturday at 7 p.m.

Mark Your Calendar: Saturday, July 14 will be Do512 Family night on The Hillside! Our staff will be there handing out swag and copies of our Summer Calendars. We invite you to join us with the kids that evening! Also, take note that ASL and audio description nights are scheduled for July 21 and 27. And if you really have a hankerin’ to be one of the very first people to see the show, you can get tickets for the Blue Suede Shoes Picnic & Preview Party on July 5 for donors of $150 or more who’s contribution helps keep these summer musicals part of our Austin tradition.
