— Head over to Millie & Mox for Fun Fridays from 10-11 a.m. Enjoy a fun hour of musical entertainment featuring local Austin musicians, The Que Pastas. Free!

— The 2015 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships is happening in Zilker Park today through Sunday, Jan. 11. This high-energy competition is part road bike/mounting bike/running race. It’s free and open to the public, and the kids could have fun  watching bikes zooming through mud and over hills.

— Take the family to some fun wintertime entertainment — a hockey game at the Cedar Park Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the Texas Stars vs. Iowa Wild game start at $20 and can be purchased online here.

— Head to the Austin Convention Center for some indoor fun as you browse the coolest new trends for boating, fishing, wakesurfing, kayaking and more at the Austin Boat and Travel Trailer Show. Friday is Family Fun Night where admission is half off for families after 4 p.m. Regular admission is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors 60+, $6 for children 7-12, and free for children under 7. — Take the kids to BookPeople at 11:30 for a special storytime with guests from the Paramount Theatre. They’ll give a sneak peak of their new show, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley that is coming up on Sunday, Jan. 18. There will also be stories, a Flat Stanley-making craft, and a drawing for tickets to the show. Free event!

— Drop by The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria for “Second Saturdays” where kids ages 2-11 and enjoy hands-on art-making from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. This week’s topic is all about birds. Learn about the migratory habits birds from the Travis Audubon Society, then build a bird habitat to take home to your feathered neighbors! $10 per family (or $5 per family with membership).

— If the idea of crafting with the kids give you slight anxiety about the mess, the glue, the glitter, the assorted materials all over the place — then plan to take them to express their creativity with no worries at Lakeshore Learning‘s weekly free craft session from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for kids ages 3 and up. This week kids can make a Sweet Dream Catcher.

— Kids can get creative at The Art Garage‘s Free Frozen Wintertime Family Fun event from 2-4 p.m. Families are welcome to pop in to celebrate wintertime in a fun, free craft time! Everyone’s favorite Snow Queen will be there for photo-ops, too!

Ballet Austin wants to help you kick off your new fitness goals with free fitness classes for all ages at the Butler Dance Education Center from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. Get Fit 2015 is a great opportunity to try something new, learn more about living healthy in 2015 and have fun! — At 3 p.m., the Long Center presents Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies. This full-length concert for all ages, features the Regal Pops Orchestra entertaining you with music from some of the most famous movie scores, such as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins and more.
