Woohoo! School’s out for summer! You can start the season with loads of family fun at The Midway Food Park for the Do512 Family Kick Off to Summer Party (free w/ RSVP). This weekend you can also check out the excitement at X Games, listen to ’80s music on the Zilker hillside, spend a whole night playing laser tag, get free donuts, make tons of bubbles at the Long Center, learn from Buffalo Soldiers at McKinney Falls, give our local trails some TLC, meet a paleontologist, and enjoy free admission & family activities at the Bullock Musuem and Umlauf Sculpture Garden!

— We’re celebrating the arrival of summer with a BIG PARTY, and we want you and the kids to join us! Bring your family and friends to The Midway Food Park from 2-7 p.m. for music, food trucks, a magic show, a hula dance performance, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting and healthy activities as part of the Do512 Family Kick Off to Summer, presented by Austin Urology Institute. Admission is FREE with RSVP!

— Get ready for a musical blast from the past on tonight  (and tomorrow) when the The Austin Civic Orchestra presents That 80’s Concert as this year’s free pops concert at the Zilker Hillside Theater. Take a walk down memory lane starting at 8 p.m. with live performances from your favorite music from the 1980’s — from Back to the Future and E.T. theme songs to Van Halen and much more. Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy a night of music. Free!

— If you are looking for a fun way for your teens to kick off the Summer season, check out the End of School Lock-In at Blazer Tag. Drop the kids (ages 13 and up) off at 11 p.m. pick them up at 7 a.m. tomorrow. They can enjoy a whole night of unlimited laser tag, prizes, plenty of fun activities. X Games is bringing tons of thrills and excitement to Circuit of the Americas  today through Sunday, June 7! There is plenty of awesome action to appeal to kids of all ages, and this year there are some great improvements planned for families, such as more shady areas, more access to hydration stations, a bigger and better Playground. Bubblepalooza! takes over the Long Center today from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.! You’ll find families on the City Terrace and lawn enjoying live music, chalk art, trailer food, and of course, tons of bubbles! Free! Parking will be available for $7 per car at the Palmer Events Center Garage. Free parking is also available at Auditorium Shores and the surrounding area.

— It’s National Trails Day, and it’s a great opportunity for you and the family to spend a little time outdoors helping to beautify the Austin trails we love. After the Memorial Day weekend flooding, there are many local trails in need of some TLC. You can help make a difference on the city’s cleanup efforts. Events take place at locations across the city from 8 a.m. – noon, and you can simply click here to view all of the volunteer projects, and sign up for the one that is right for you and your family.

— Gather the family for a fun day outdoors at McKinney Falls State Park. You can step back in time as you spend the day with the buffalo soldiers, Native Americans and early cowboys at the Outdoor Heritage Day and Family Festival from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Enjoy free, family-friendly activities such as playing a game of old baseball, learning to use a compass, tracking animals and going on a guided bike tour. Admission to McKinney Falls State Park is $6 per adult, and kids 12 and under are free.

— The Texas Memorial Museum invites everyone to celebrate the end of a successful school year with free admission today. This science-focused museum on the UT campus will be open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with lots of activities and special events from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Kids can chat with a paleontologist, check out the dig pit and stop by the fossil identification stations.

— Head to the Bullock Texas State History Museum for their monthly Free First Sunday program from 12 – 3 p.m. With special family programs centered around the theme of Texas travel.

Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum will host their monthly Free Family Day today from noon – 4 p.m. Bring the whole family for yoga, story time, art, music and more in the peaceful and picturesque gardens full of beautiful sculptures. And take note that the Umlauf will offer FREE admission all summer long!
