This weekend you can step into a live-action graphic novel, challenge your family to ultimate sports activities, swap out your old clothes and books for new ones, putt for a cause, dance under the stars, check out old school hot rods, take in some Texas history at the Bullock for free, and much, much more.

Friday:

— Get ready for a hilarious adventure where comic books come to life on stage in Twin Infinifty: Intergalactic Nemisis. You can check out this all-ages live-action graphic novel at 8 p.m. at the Long Center. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online here.

— Everything is awesome for Lego-lovers at this week’s free outdoor movie event in Cedar Park’s Elizabeth Milburn Park. You can pack your picnic and bring your blankets to watch The LEGO Movie at 8 p.m. under the stars.

 

Saturday:

— Rally your team (of friends and family) to test your skills at the Ultimate Field Day in Mueller Lake Park. Head out anytime between 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. for football, soccer, basketball, and rock climbing activities. Entrance fee is $10. Go team! Show ’em what you’ve got!

— Clean out those closets and head to the 8th Annual Zilker Clothing & Book Swap from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Zilker Elementary School.  Pass along your gently used books and clothes (all sizes) and trade them in for something new to you.

— Get your feet moving and your hips shaking at a free salsa dance lesson at 7 p.m. at Zilker Hillside Theater. Salsa Under the Stars is a fun night of dance with music from La Mona Loca.

— Mini golf is always a fun time, but it’s even better when you’re playing for a good cause! Take the kids to Peter Pan Mini-Golf from noon – 2:30 p.m. for Spark Learning’s first annual Putt Fore Autism Mini Golf Tournament! Adults and children of all abilities are welcome to come out and play. Entry fee is $10, with an additional $4 for club and ball rental. 100 percent of proceeds will support Autism Speaks.

— Who’s ready for some hot rods and hamburgers? Take the family out to Top Notch Hot Rod Drive-in Night for a history lesson in old school Austin. Check out classic cars at 6 p.m., listen to live music from Ms. Julia and the Cruzers at 7 p.m., and stick around for a showing of the movie, The Beatniks, at dusk. Admission is free.

 

Sunday:

New and expecting parents can check out the Happy Baby Day event happening at HOPE Farmers Market. Shop from your favorite farmers market vendors from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Enjoy live music at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Pick up free goodie bags, watch baby food cooking demos, get belly henna tattoos, and participate in a clothing swap for baby and maternity clothes. And much more!

— Kids of all ages will enjoy a lively children’s play at The Scottish Rite Theater showing at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Too Many Stories! asks children in the audience to help a character named Callie outwit robbers through story, music, and improvisation. Fun!

— The first Sunday of the month is always a great time to head to the Bullock Texas State History Museum when admission is free! From noon – 5 p.m., you can browse exhibits about Texas history and check out the current 1968 Exhibit full of retro items and interactive stations.

— Don’t forget: It’s National Grandparents Day! So be sure to give your Nana and Grandpa an extra hug or a phone call to say hello!
