Head to the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center at 1 pm on Saturday, Feb. 1 to learn about Austin’s African American cultural assets. Take a free tour around the six square miles in central East Austin that comprise the AACHD, which is home to many sites of national, regional, and historic significance. Meander through Oakwood cemetery’s unmarked African American section and celebrate African Americans and others who played important roles in helping create our vibrant city. Then you can also feast on food from Hoover’s and dance to the sounds of  DJ ATX. History, food and tunes – what more do you need…?
