There’s good news for all of you who want another chance to play in the bubbles at Laguna Gloria… Although the rest of the Strange Pilgrims exhibition has closed at The Contemporary Austin, the Roger Hiorns interactive foam sculpture (called A retrospective view of the pathway) will still be on view and activated each Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 4 p.m. through early March 2016.

Our kids had SO MUCH FUN playing around in the foam when we visited in the fall. We’re excited to have another chance to experience this again. For those of you who have not yet seen this, you’ll watch foam bubble up from the sculpture for about an hour, in which kids can run through and play in it. It may be the closest thing to snow we’ll get around here this winter.

It’s a good idea to read this note from The Contemporary Austin before you go:

The foam used in Hiorns’s artwork is nontoxic and biodegradable. Please use caution if you have sensitivities to detergent-based materials. We invite you to interact with the installation at your own risk. Guests are encouraged to wear clothes that can get wet or messy and to bring towels and a change of clothes.

Visiting the grounds of Laguna Gloria is always FREE! You can also enjoy free admission to the museum on Tuesdays. For updates about the sculpture, you can visit The Contemporary Austin’s Facebook page.

Have fun!
