It’s a sad day for families in Austin. Freddie’s Place, one of the most kid-friendly joints in town, will be closing its doors later this month.

Home of “The Stuffed Frederonie”, a burger stuffed with pepperoni, mozzarella and pizza sauce, Freddie’s Place served up southern comfort food and offered a huge patio under massive trees. With a playscape for the kids, an outdoor stage for live music, washer pits and an awesome happy hour, the restaurant considers itself dog-friendly, kid-friendly, drinker-friendly and sports-friendly.

Employees heard the news earlier this week.

“I came into work yesterday happy, and then it was all ruined,” said employee Anj Annette.

Fresa’s Chicken Al Carbon has bought the property, so the location will remain a restaurant.

Freddie’s Place will close its doors on Sunday, June 28, so be sure to swing by and have one last glass of Freddie’s Summer Crutch, a frozen Jack Daniels and lemonade that will help ease your troubled mind.
