To celebrate their love of dogs, goldfish, cats, guinea pigs, parrots, ferrets and bunnies – BookPeople is having a storytime all about them. They’ll be reading the adorable Raybot and other adventurous, heartwarming animal stories. Come bark and squawk and meow in appreciation for books and your favorite pets. Free.

Where the Wild Things Are @ The Long Center
Wednedsay, April 13 – Sunday, April 17, various times per day
Let the wild rumpus start! Everyone’s favorite children’s book is coming to life on stage at the Long Center! See a live, interactive production of Where the Wild Things Are in which the audience helps transform Max’s bedroom into the various landscapes of his adventures. Best for ages 4-7, and children in this age group will be invited to sit in the participation area on the floor. Today at 11 a.m. & 4 p.m. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased online here or by calling(512) 474-LONG (5664).

Movies in the Park: The Sandlot @ Northwest District Park
Thursday, April 14, 8 p.m.
Watch The Sandlot on the big screen for a fun night under the stars. Movies in the Park is a series of free films brought to you by Austin Parks Foundation in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic dinner for a fun and relaxing evening. Alcoholic beverages, glass and styrofoam are not permitted, nor is smoking in the park.

5th Annual Pachanga Dance Party @ Becker Elementary
Friday, April 15, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m
Families are welcome to eat, play or just shimmy, shake and get down Pachanga-style. There will be a photo booth, a performance by the Akins Step Team and Becker Bobcat Dad, Jorge Garza aka DJ Baby G, will spin old-school dance jams on the turntables. Concessions for sale. Free admission.
