Now that summer is here, the only thing we want to do these days is swim and splash. Cooling down in some refreshing water is our favorite way to beat the heat, and we love taking a visit to Typhoon Texas. Located in Pflugerville, just about 20 minutes north of Austin, this is a great place to play and splash the day away. This water park features high-speed tube slides, free-fall body slides, a Texas-sized wave pool, winding lazy river, and a four-story children’s Gully Washer. Open now through Labor Day, this is really a great place for some good clean fun with the fam!

As with any big park like this, we like to arrive right when it opens in the morning. It’s our best bet for beating the crowds, maximizing our fun-in-the-sun day, and getting the most out of the admission price. Season passes ($64.99), online any-day admission tickets ($29.99), and choose-your-day admission tickets (as low as $21.95) are available at typhoontexas.com.  Season passes and any-day admission tickets also can be purchased at the Typhoon Texas ticket window.

We love how the layout of the park is so easy to navigate. You can cover all the territory and enjoy all of the attractions without feeling like you need to rush from one thing to the next. The park is a nice size for a day of playing and relaxing with the family.

When it comes to water-play, Typhoon Texas has it all. We love a good lazy river and a wave pool! We tested out all the slides and had a blast. The splash play areas for younger kids are really fun. We were happy to see such a nice mix of activities to appeal to kids of all ages. Plus, everything felt really clean, and there were lifeguards everywhere.

Highlights of the water park attractions include:

  • The Duelin’ Daltons: five slides with tight, winding turns, dark tunnels and free-fall experiences including two, seven-story open-air drop slides.
  • The Snake Pit: offers three slides that twist in and out of the sunlight and darkness while the Lone Star Racers provides a headfirst racing waterslide experience for thrill seekers of all ages.
  • The Gully Washer: an 800-gallon water bucket and play structure standing more than four stories tall with spray areas, slides and elevated walkways.
  • Families also enjoy the waves of Tidal Wave Bay, the Lazy-T River and the Howdy Hollow activity pool with basketball, interactive water features and a water walkway cargo crawl.

There are plenty of places to eat within Typhoon Texas where you enjoy burgers, corn dogs, BBQ, pizza, shaved ice, and more. Our kids were quite pleased with food options. Adults can even enjoy a frosty beverage at the bar. You are also welcome to leave and re-enter the park (don’t forget to get your hand stamped) if you wish to walk to nearby restaurant to dine instead (there are many options in the shopping area directly across the street).  Do note that no outside food is allowed.

If you wish to secure your own private tented seating area, you can reserve a cabana for premiere comfort. There are a few rental options, each with shaded seating and comfy furniture to have a dedicated spot for your family to gather for the day. Click here for rental info.

We really enjoy our visits to Typhoon Texas! The kids love it, as do the adults. We’ll definitely be back many times this summer.
