Austin is home to several parks. Parks with playscapes, splash pads, pools, grills, picnic tables… we’ve got it all! Do512 Family wants you to know as much as possible about every Austin park that’s out there so that you can pick the right place to play with your family and friends.

Tarrytown Park, nestled in quiet stretch of neighborhood just west of Mopac and south of Westover Rd, might be small but it’s still mighty. It’s got a little of everything – a ball field, dueling playscapes, a babbling brook (or drainage ditch, depending on how you see it – equal fun to kids who like to explore the murk!) and shady spaces for just hanging out. And, like most roads in Austin, it has another name – a lot of locals still call it by its former name, Triangle Park. (see if you can guess why when you visit!) Whatever you call it, stop by when you’re in the neighborhood and enjoy a clean, quiet and friendly park experience.

Tarrytown Park2106 Tower Dr.   /  Playscape: Yes, 2  /  Splash Pad: No  /  Pool: No

Shade: There are shady spots and sunny spots throughout. The playscape and swings geared toward younger kids are mostly shaded, and sit near two picnic tables also in the shade. There are plenty of pockets of large, leafy trees under which to escape the sun, some of which feature benches.

Parking: There is no lot, but there is ample street parking surrounding the park on all sides.

Picnic Tables: There are two picnic tables in the shade.

Grills: No.

Size: 2 acres.

Notes: There’s a somewhat scruffy but functional baseball diamond, a wide open field that people use for various sports, and smaller areas for playing catch or wandering around and exploring – there’s even a tiny stream that sometimes has – gasp! – water in it! The park’s layout is big enough to allow for 2 separate playscapes, one geared toward the littles; the other toward the biggers.
