Snow Day… kind of! Rest up, because there’s lots to do this weekend. If you’re at home with your school-aged kids today and going stir crazy, here are some ideas to get out some energy:

Today:

— Elmo says, “Craft with me!” Head to Learning Express Toys for Visits With Elmo, where kids can make a free craft for your Valentine from 11 am – 1 pm, Elmo will be on site from 11 am – 12 pm. Call 512-402-0808 for more details and to be sure everything is still on schedule.

— Check out the Play Zone at All Things Kids Domain, and All Things Kids Georgetown from 10 am – 6 pm. The Play Zone is full of toys, games and books so kids can play, learn and have fun. $5 per child, per day.

— Ages 13 and up can sign up for the Cookie Decorating Class for Valentine’s Day at Central Market Cooking School from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. The class will make cookie dough, practice the best rolling technique and learn to ice, glaze and decorate cookies. Sign up here (7 spots left), $65 per person.

Tomorrow:

— Join Creative Action at FriendFest at Central Market North from 11 am – 1 pm for a family celebration of friendship. Kids can create friendship bracelets, make valentines, decorate cookies, enjoy live music and a friendship parade. — It’s the Grand Opening of the Sherwood Forest Faire at the Sherwood Fairegrounds in McDade, Texas, which is about 20 – 30 minutes outside of Austin. Dust off the faerie wings, don the lederhosen and get ready for a weekend of renaissance fun! Open from 10 am – dusk, tickets are $17 for ages 13 and up and $9 for ages 6 – 12 if you buy online, if you purchase tickets at the gate, they’ll be $20 for 13 and up and $10 for ages 6 – 12. Kids under 6 are FREE!

Little Red Chunari opens at the Scottish Rite Theater with two shows; 11 am and 1 pm. This Bollywood style interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood features live music and dance, puppetry and comedy. Tickets are $6 for ages 12 and under and $9 for 13 and up, you can purchase them online or at the box office.

— Parents are invited to the Chakra Theory Workshop at Casa de Luz, as part of the community classes provided by Integrity Academy, the new school opening at Casa de Luz in the fall, who want to encourage the growth of parents and kids. Class is from 12 – 1:30 pm in the Cielo Room North, the first class is free if you sign up for the series. If you don’t sign up, the fee is a $10 suggested donation.

Sunday:

— Don’t miss the vivid and noisy stage adaptation of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – The Musical, playing at Paramount Theatre at 2 and 4:30 pm. Join the adventurers on their quest to find a bear as they wade through swishy swashy grass, the splishy splashy river and the thick, oozy, squelchy mud! Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased here.

— Experience the epitome of a rich and ancient folk art tradition with the addition of the pageantry and spectacle of modern Chinese Theatrical Circus at The Peking Acrobats, performing at the Long Center at 3 pm. All ages, all around the world, are loving this breathtaking, gravity-defying show! Tickets are $24 – $49 and you can purchase them online or at the box office.

— Head to Family Day at Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum for free admission and activities from 12 – 4 pm. Families will learn about native birds, enjoy yoga, live sculpture demos and story time.
