Austin Mini Maker Faire 2014

The Mini Maker Faire is back! Saturday, May 3 from 10 am – 6 pm at Travis County Expo Center, families are invited to get their make on with arts and crafts, science and engineering, food and music, and even fire and water. the Mini Maker Faire celebrates the DIY mindset and will showcase amazing projects in everything from robots, to rockets to 3D printing and more.

Attending the faire means that your family can peruse through, and engage in activities, provided by the Makers. Makers include various groups around Austin in everything from screen printing, to the Austin Bike Zoo, to creative reuse groups and tinkering schools. You’ll be able to make necklaces, make fabric herb pouches, see an interactive wonderland and carnival, make beet dye, make your own soap, participate in a digital art installation and MUCH MORE.   • 12:40 pm -> Jodi Egerton, Typewriter Rodeo – Custom poems on vintage typewriters.
  • 1 pm -> Daniel G. Benes, Wizard of Menlo Park – A ‘modern Thomas Edison’ and his antique technology exhibit.
  • 1:30 pm -> Mike Jochum, Erth – Vertical gardening for hydroponics systems.
  • 2 pm -> Lisa Wood, Handmade Stories – Participatory digital art installation.
  • 2:20 pm -> Alex Lee, RecycleBot – Transform your plastic trash into materials for your 3D printer.
  • 2:40 pm -> Bin Hu, Dim3Printing – 3D printing pen.
  • 3 pm -> Tim Deagan, Propane101 – Learn about creating booshes, poofers, torches, flambeaus and more.
  • 3:20 pm -> Brandon Wiley, TX Chip – Synthesized electronic music produced by the sound chips of vintage computers, video game consoles and arcade machines.
  • 3:40 pm -> Mickey Delp, Delptronics – Unique electronic musical instruments

In addition to these acts and speakers, there are other performers on the main stage, as well as other workshops to participate in.

Ticket prices are $8.50 in advance, $10 at the door for children age 3-18. For adults, admission is $11.50 in advance and $15 at the door. Workshops will be available for additional fees. See those details here. Save a few bucks and purchase your tickets in advance, here.
