Here are our Top 10 Austin Family Events…
Friday:
— Start your morning off with a jam sesh from The Que Pastas, performing at Millie & Mox at 10 am for their Fun Fridays! Show is free and Millie & Mox is one of the cutest boutiques around.
— Did you know there are fireworks every Friday night at Dell Diamond during the Round Rock Express games? Also, it’s only $7 for lawn seats and there’s an entire Fun Zone dedicated to kids. See the Express take on the New Orleans Zephyrs at 7:05 pm. Get your tickets here or at the gate.
— Party down at Central Market South with the Flying Balalaika Brothers while the kids play on the playscape. Free, 6:30 – 9 pm.
Saturday:
— LEGO Day at Kaleidoscope Toys will be from 10 am – 1 pm and it’s free to join all the LEGO fun. Kids can play LEGO Bingo, make a LEGO bracelet, decorate LEGO cookies, swap LEGO Minifigures and maybe even win a jar full of LEGO bricks!
— Moms and moms-to-be, celebrate yourself at the Dear Mama event at Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex. Enjoy free massages, facials, fresh fruit smoothies, face painting, children’s games and activities and chances to win some awesome prizes. Free, 2 – 5 pm.
— Hang out with the Boneshaker Project at Whole Foods Domain and put the kids to the test with a Three Station Experience where they can “shake their bones” and “do what moves them.” There will be smoothie races, obstacle courses and Winner on the Diamond portraits. Free, 12 – 2 pm.
— Get your kids some cool new clothes at the ATX Kids Back to Summer Pop-Up Shop at 801 Barton Springs Rd. Local children’s designers will be selling their goods and Short Bus Subs and Sno Beach will be selling their treats. Swing by anytime between 10 am – 2 pm and support local designers.
Sunday:
— The Sensational Safari at the Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary will be a safari-themed day with a performance from Safari Greg, face painting, a safari hunt and other fun. Families can take a train ride through the zoo and learn all about the animals. Tickets are $20 and you can buy them here. Proceeds benefit the Austin SPD Alliance.
— Family First Sunday at Umlauf Sculpture Garden will have programming for the kids and free admission from 12 – 4 pm. Kids can build a sandcastle on “Umlauf Beach”, do some yoga in the garden, enjoy a storytime, sculpture demos and live music.
— Free First Sunday at the Bullock Texas State History Museum will have free admission and Military-themed exhibits and activities for the family from 12 – 6 pm. Kids can meet real camels, design their own dog tags, write letters to deployed troops or veterans, enjoy story time and much more.
