Summer Nature Camps at McKinney Roughs Nature Park

The Summer Nature Camps at McKinney Roughs Nature Park provide the perfect outdoor camp experience. In week-long sessions divided by age groups ranging from age 5 to 15, kids get to explore the Lost Pines woods, play camp games and learn about the woods and the animals that live there. Campers will learn wilderness survival skills and go rafting on the Colorado River. Older campers will experience more advanced nature science studies as well as personal and team building challenges, and teenagers can learn the skills of a naturalist and outdoor leader.

Sessions for 2014 run through the week of August 11, and you’re in luck! Some camp slots are still available.

There is a convenient shuttle service option offered to parents who would rather not make the daily trip to McKinney Roughs Nature Park. Shuttle locations will have pick-up and drop-off areas Central, at the LCRA General Office on Lake Austin; and South, at the LCRA Service Center near Ben White and Montopolis.

Here’s a video showing what some of the camp activities are like:

Registration is online and full payment is required at the time of registration. The cost of camp is $195 per session and the shuttle cost is $75. Customers registering for four or more weeks of camp have the option to pay in two installments, but must register by phone. For full camp descriptions, directions, registration, after care and shuttle information, visit the McKinney Roughs Nature Park Summer Nature Camps page here.

Your kids will have a blast!
