Aren’t we so lucky to live in Austin, Texas? With so many great places to go with our kids, Austin is a sweet place to raise a family. This holiday season, we want to focus on thanks AND giving in our awesome hometown, and we’re asking you to help.
Take a photo of something in Austin that your family is thankful for, and for every photo you send in, our friends at some of Austin’s most awesome businesses will donate $5 to a local children’s charity. You say THANKS, local companies GIVE, and we all win with hugs all around!
How to Enter the “Keep Austin Thankful” Photo Contest:
Take a photo of something in Austin that you’re thankful for and email it to [email protected], or post to Twitter and/or Instagram using the hashtag #KeepAustinThankful. Be sure to tag @do512family and change your privacy settings to public so we see it. The deadline for submitting photos is Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014. With each photo, please include the following:
- Full Name of parent submitting photo
- Email & phone number of parent (we will only use this to contact you if you should win)
- Name of photographer (if a child, please include age)
- Subject of the photo (could just be the name of the place, etc.)
Photos can be submitted as a family group entry or by individual family members. You can submit a maximum of 2 photos per family. To be very careful about protecting children’s privacy, we ask that you do NOT include photos showing people’s faces. These will not be eligible. Also, all photographs will become the property of Do512 Family and may be used on our website or social media channels in the future.
Prizes
The BEST prize of all is that for every photo submitted, $5 will be donated to local charities! We’re so appreciative of our partners:

The Steeping Room will be donating to Austin Meals on Wheels and More
Hat Creek Burger Company will be donating to Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG).
Parenting Coach, Carrie Contey, Phd, will be donating to the Mothers Milk Bank.
Burro Cheese Kitchen will be donating to Project LOOP
In addition, our top three photographers will receive prize packs including gifts from Kerbey Lane Cafe, The Steeping Room, Sky Candy, Hat Creek Burger Company, Birds Barbershop and Round Rock Express. Winners will be announced on Dec. 3. Also, the top 10 photos will be on display at The Steeping Room (4400 N Lamar Blvd.) in December so you and your family can check out your work in a gallery-type setting.
Judging
The photos will be posted in the Keep Austin Thankful photo gallery on Do512 Family’s Facebook page. All readers will be invited to “like” each photo. One prize will be awarded to the photo with the most likes. Do512 Family staff will pick the two other winners with one prize awarded to our favorite photo taken by a parent and another prize will be awarded to our favorite photo taken by a child.
