— Check out Color Me Mine’s Paint with Santa Party where kids can enjoy painting, story time and one-on-one time with Santa. Kids will create a keepsake plate which features both Santa’s hand print and their own. Register to attend the party at 2 p.m (or another party on Saturday at 10 a.m.) $45 per child. — This year, Austin will celebrate the 50th year of the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park! Families will love the ferris wheel, interactive area with crafts, photo opportunities, a visit with Santa, delicious food and much more. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Trail between Dec. 7 – 21, but if you’re hoping to get a first look, you can head to the Preview Party at 7 p.m. featuring music from Quiet Company, ice carving, activities, food and more. Tickets are $25 (free for ages 6 and under) and can be purchased online here.
— Don’t miss The Domain‘s annual Breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. – noon with free breakfast, live music, character appearances, holiday games, letters to Santa, face painting, balloon twisting and more fun! Free & open to the public. Breakfast with Santa will take place on the Plaza at Domain II.
— Take the kids to a Christmas Cartoon Cereal Party where you can “tune in and toon out to sugary-fueled cartoon goodness” at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. Head over at noon in your jammies for holiday cartoons from the ’80s and ’90s. Tickets are $10 per person and include all-you-can-eat cereal. You can purchase tickets online here.
— Have a classic snowball fight at the Snow Day at Hill Country Galleria from noon – 4 p.m. Located outside of the Bee Cave Library, you’ll find real snow being delivered to the Hill Country Galleria. Toss a snowball, build a snowman, make a snow angel, and take family photos. Enjoy live holiday music, holiday carolers, and more. Free!
— Santa’s not the only one who could enjoy some cookies this time of year. Lucky for us, La Pâtisserie has plenty of treats for all of us at their Holiday Party from 2-4:30 p.m. You’ll enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and sweets, and get ready…Santa will be there, too!
— Join the community at the annual Holiday Sing-Along & Downtown Stroll. At 6 p.m., you can meet at the steps of the Texas State Capitol to sing songs of the seasons, led by John Aielli of KUTX 98.9. As the clock strikes 7 p.m., the crowd will countdown to the lighting of the Capitol tree, and then from 7-9 p.m., everyone can enjoy special activities on Congress Ave. for the Downtown Stroll. Free!
— The Bullock Texas State History Museum offers free admission on Sunday (and every 1st Sunday)! This weekend, check out a special DeSTEMber event from Girlstart where kids can enjoy hands-on fun from noon – 3p.m. with snowflake chemistry, igloo construction, fluffy snow and more!
— Check out the latest children’s play at the Scottish Rite Theatre based on O. Henry’s classic story, The Gift of the Magi. A story of friendship and giving comes to life on stage in Kids of the Magi. Showtimes at 12:30 & 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available online here and at the door one hour before showtime. Tickets costs $8 for children ages 12 and under, and $13 for ages 13 and up.
— Plan for a fun time at Big Frog Custom T-Shirts’ 3rd Anniversary Party. The South Austin location (located in the Sunset Valley shopping center) will be celebrating from 1-4 p.m. You are invited to take your picture with Santa in-store and get your photo printed on a FREE white T-shirt! You can also enjoy free food & holiday music from a saxophone quartet.
