On Friday, Apr. 3, your kids can enjoy an afternoon of free fun on their day off of school at the Neill-Cochran House Museum‘s Easter Egg Dye-o-Rama. Families with children of all ages are invited to attend from noon – 4 p.m. to dye their own Easter eggs, play games on grounds, and explore the museum in a playful, less-formal environment.
All materials will be provided for free at the event, although donations are appreciated. Limited onsite parking is available for free in the museum’s small lot accessible from 23rd street.
Local artist Katy David will lead small groups of children (ages 8 & up) for an introduction into traditional Eastern European pysanka techniques of dyeing and decorating eggs. Her sessions will run about every half hour for groups of 8. If you would like to sign up for this free lesson, you must be on the Neill-Cochran House Museum’s free newsletter list, which you can sign up for here. You must also email [email protected] or call 512-478-2335 to be placed on the list for lessons.
If you can’t make it to one of Katy’s lessons on Friday, Apr. 3, you can register here for her pysanka workshop on Saturday, Apr. 11 from 1-5 p.m. Cost is $70 for members and $95 for non-members.
Have fun!
