— Plan for a day of fresh air and family fun at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for the annual Tree Talk Winter Walk from 9 a.m. – 5 pm. Celebrate Texas trees while learning about tree care, and browse a wide selection of native trees & shrubs for sale. Plus, there will be guided walks & talks by experts as well as a lot of family-friendly activities including shelter building with tree branches, a marshmallow roast & bonfire, storytime, swinging in the trees, and a scavenger hunt. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and college students, $4 for ages 5-17, free for members and children ages 4 & under.
— Take the kids to dance along to the positive music of Big Don at 10 a.m. at StrangeBrew. Don Robinson is an award winning Hip Hop musician based in Austin who focuses on the inspiring aspect of what kids embrace about life. The show is fun for all ages and free!
— Austin Family Magazine‘s 18th Annual Summer Camp Fair is a great place to start planning for a fun summer ahead. Stop by the Palmer Events Center from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. for this FREE camp fair! You’ll find a wide range of camp themes such as art, nature, sports, science, magic and more for Summer Break as well as Spring Break. You can also enter to win free camp registrations that will be given away during the event.
— Austin’s newest rock climbing gym, Austin Bouldering Project, is hosting an all-day party starting at 9 a.m. You’ll get to enjoy this awesome, large climbing space in East Austin with day passes priced at only $5. You can also enjoy a selection of bites from local food trucks at noon, participate in a friendly climbing competition at 5:30 p.m. and rock out with local band, Roxy Roca at 7:30 p.m.
— Titan Moon Comics is hosting a free Kids Club event from noon – 4 p.m. celebrating DC Comics. Kids can make DC Comics bookmarks, participate in a coloring contest and play games. Plus, local artist, Rita Moore, will be there doing quick sketches of the kids and selling her art.
— Wild Kratts, the popular PBS Kids television series, is coming to the Bass Concert Hall at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Wild Kratts LIVE! In this interactive theatrical show, Martin and Chris Kratt share some “wow facts” about animals, pull on their special vests and gloves to begin activating their Creature Powers. Tickets are $35 – $45 and can be purchased online here.
— Pollyanna Theatre Company’s latest show, Pattern People, starts today with shows at the Long Center at 2 p.m. & 4 p.m. It’s a fun-filled 45 minutes featuring four good friends exploring what many different people in their world do to keep things in their community humming along. But what happens when some of these people break their usual daily pattern of behavior? (Geared towards children in preK through 2nd grade.) Tickets are $12 which you can purchase online here.
— Sing, dance, jump and shout with Johnny, Sharon, Nick, Amber & the Hoppetts at Kids Club Music Hour at 10 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Theater. Kids can play with shakers, streamers, scarves, rhythm sticks, and an endless stream of bubbles. A “come to life” storytime will take place on the stage. Arrive early for juice, granola, coffee, muffins & more in lobby for $1/person.
— Join the fun at a free Screen Printing Workshop at the Mexic-Arte Museum from 1-4 p.m. In addition to free admission on Sundays, visitors will have the chance to screen print an image designed by Tony Perez, of local screen printing studio Ramona Press. Open to all ages.
— Check out ZACH Theatre‘s storybook-inspired show — Tomás and the Library Lady, based on the book by Pat Mora. You can see it today at 2 p.m. This show runs through Sunday, February 14, and tells an inspirational story of a boy named Tomás who meets a “library lady” who encourages him to read.
