Top Austin Family Weekend Events…
— Take the family to Finding Dory Outdoor Movie Night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends. Concessions will be sold onsite (cash only). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated to help the community.
— Toybrary Austin is hosting a Family Concert with Staci Gray from 5:30-7:30 p.m. You can enjoy music on the playground with food from Top Notch available for purchase. Admission is $7 per children’s concert ticket, paid in advance online here. Adults free! Grownups take note that it’s also BYOB.
— Go check out some really cool light-based art installations part of Creek Show from 6-10 p.m., on Waller Creek between 5th & 8th Streets. Presented by the Waller Creek Conservancy, Creek Show 2016 is a way to celebrate Waller Creek and bring awareness to the future transformation coming to the creek. It’s free to check out, and will be up through Saturday.
— Get your junior paleontologists ready for the 26th Annual Fossil Fest today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Old Settlers Association Meeting Hall. Fossil Fest is a fun and educational event for the whole family that includes touch tables, microscopes, fossil i.d., and the opportunity to interact with UT scientists and educators. Admission is $3/adult, $2/child (6-12), and children ages 5 & under are free.
— Join us at a circus-themed party at Hat Creek Burger Company in Georgetown from 2-6 p.m.! At The Big Top party, you’ll find stilt walkers, cotton candy, face painting, a stuffed animal raffle and photo booth — as well as a chance to support a great cause. Hat Creek will be donating twenty-five percent of the day’s sales to Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG), a community for where adults with intellectual challenges. All kids activities are free!
— It’s time again for the annual East Austin Studio Tour! E.A.S.T. celebrates Austin’s creative community with free, self-guided art events happening this weekend as well as next weekend (Nov. 19-20th). Art galleries and various spaces all over east Austin will open up their doors for you to check out live music, libations, and tons of great art. All free! — Get your photo taken with Santa in front of the iconic “Greetings from Austin” mural on Annie Street in South Austin at La Patisserie’s Anniversary Party. The South Austin bakery invites you in to purchase delicious treats and visit with Santa (for free) from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
— Springfree Trampoline at The Domain is hosting a Birthday Bash and Holiday Party from 12 – 5 p.m. with Elsa from Frozen from 1-3 p.m., Austin Spurs & Texas Stars ticket giveaways, arts & crafts, snacks & refreshments. Free event!
— Head over to the Central Texas Food Bank for big bowls of soup and good cheer at the 20th Annual Empty Bowl Project today from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. to help raise funds for children’s programs of Central Texas Food Bank and Meals on Wheels Central Texas. For $20, you’ll get to select a ceramic bowl donated by Austin area potters (that you get to take home with you), sample soups from Austin’s best chefs and restaurants, and enjoy live music while you’re there.
— Take the kids to see Charlotte’s Web at ZACH Theatre. Based on the classic book by E.B. White, this heartwarming children’s play features bluegrass music and aerial artists from Sky Candy. Catch the performance today at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $16 and can be purchased online here or by calling the Box Office at 512-476-0541 x1. (The show runs through Saturday, December 3.)
