Get a jump on SXSW before all the tech/movie/music touristas descend upon our fair city at the 2ND Street Soundcheck on Saturday, Mar. 1 from 1 – 8 pm in the 2nd Street District. The FREE day of music, shopping, food, fun and philanthropy is a joint venture presented by the 2ND Street District, Austin Monthly, BMW of Austin and the Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer’s Disease.
With a lineup featuring seven local and national bands, emceed by singer-songwriter and Austin native Ginger Leigh and culminating in a performance by Bob Schneider, it’s sure to be jam-packed fun. Plus, you’ll get a chance to say “I saw them when…” after seeing and hearing some of the emerging talent, including:
- L.A. based Broken Anchor
- The Digital Wild, a trip hop group from Austin that’s quickly gaining fans as word spreads of their amazing live shows
- Nashville’s Leagues, featuring two-time Grammy winner Tyler Burkum on guitar
- Black Milk, a hip hop producer/performer and emcee from Detroit
In addition, catch performances by ten-piece folk rock collective East Cameron Folkcore and rap sensation Zeale, two of Austin Monthly’s “10 Bands to watch in 2014.” Here’s the music lineup:

During the festival, sample local cuisine, have a cold one at Shiner’s Beer Garden, and enjoy souvenirs and food from more than 20 food vendors, restaurants and brands – all raising awareness and funds for Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer’s Disease.
