Do512 Family - What to do in Austin with Kids

A Visit to Triage Salon

The holidays can be amazing, but they can also be exhausting. There’s so much to keep up with at the end of December with family, visitors, kids home from school, travel, etc. Sometimes by the time January arrives, we just need to exhale, take a moment to pause and rejuvinate. Over the weekend, our Content Manager & Social Media Manager did just that. They visited Triage, a lovely new “grooming lounge” on East 5th St., for a little bit of pampering. Read all about their experience below.

Triage is located in the Corazon mixed-use development at 1000 E. Fifth St., near Fair Market, East Side Show Room, Wright Brothers Brew & Brew, etc. in a fun area of East Austin that’s prime for getting a beauty boost before a night out. Triage offers blowouts, makeup, manicures, pedicures and waxing. They also offer free validated parking, so there’s no need to worry about the hassles of downtown parking.

When we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles from owner, Lindsay Hoffman, who quit her career as festival marketing manager & concert promoter to fulfill her dream of owning her own business. She offered us wine or tea and invited us to settle into the the pretty, hip salon, where lots of ladies were getting manicures and pedicures in the front room. With its modern and minimalist design, the space evokes a nice sense of calm, which is just what we needed.

Triage offers a variety of aromatherapy nail services, using all natural Green Envee Organics.  You can click here to view the menu of pedicure and manicure services, that even includes pricing for kids if you wanted to bring along your little one for a mother/child experience.

Jenny and I both complain about having fine, thin, straight hair, and we thought it would be really fun to get a blowout. I had never had a blowout before and was curious to see if there is any way they could add some volume and curls to my hair. We were led back to the hair styling room where we chatted with our stylists about hair goals. Then we were treated to a nice shampoo & condition (with natural R&Co products), a relaxing scalp massage and style. You can choose from a selection of hair styles here.

I have to say, just sitting, drinking wine, and being beautified as we chatted away the afternoon was such a fun treat! It was so relaxing and enjoyable. This would be an ideal spot for a mom’s group, bachelorette party or any excuse to get girlfriends together for some fun. Check out our before & after shots:
