Do512 Family - What to do in Austin with Kids

Architects of Air: Pentalum

This month at the Long Center, your family can experience an awesome art installation! Architects of Air is back in Austin with their latest amazing luminarium design: Pentalum. You and the kids will get to walk through an inflated structure with domes and tunnels and geometric features reminiscent of a kaleidoscope. This luminarium will be outside of the Long Center from Friday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 29.

Architects of Air are artists who create fantastical inflated structures. These structures use light, colored vinyl and geometry to create an exhibit that allows people to walk through this maze of winding paths and soaring domes to take in the beauty of colors and light on the inside. It’s a unique and very cool experience. You can read our review of a previous exhibit for a little more info about what it’s like.

Kids of all ages will be impressed by this interactive art exhibit. Of course, give them a little reminder that while these inflatables might give off bouncy house vibes, they are definitely not for jumping around in. The tunnels and paths include several pods for sitting and reflecting as you go through the path, but everyone needs to be gentle with the structures.
