Here are our Top Austin Family Events…
— LEGO® KidsFest is here! Today from 4-8 p.m., your LEGO-crazed kiddos can meet Master Builders, swim in a big pile of bricks, get creative in the construction zones, participate in group builds and see life-sized models in the Austin Convention Center. Tickets are $19.50 for kids and seniors and $22.50 for adults. Get your tickets online in advance to be sure you can get in. (Saturday sessions are sold out, but there are still some tickets left for today and Sunday).
— Watch giant-scale radio control airplanes fly through the sky during the Big Bird RC Aircraft Show today from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (and all day tomorrow, too). This annual show features everything WWII aircraft to gigantic civilian 3D aircraft to real turbine jets. The whole family is welcome to check it out at the Austin Radio Control Association’s field. Free admission and free parking!
— See a free magic show at 10 a.m. at the Sheraton Austin. Oscar Munoz, award winning magician, will present his 35-min. motivational magic show as part of the Texas Association of Magicians Convention. No ticket purchase necessary. However, you must pick up a pass between 9-9:45 a.m. at the Sheraton ballroom foyer. First come, first served.
— Check out Cirque du Soleil’s big top production, KOOZA, at the Circuit of The Americas today at 4:30 p.m. or 8 p.m. KOOZA is set in an zany world full of surprises, thrills & chills with high wire and trapeze acts, contortion and amazing acrobatics. There are a variety of ticket options available online here, starting at $30.
— Bring the kids to the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex for the first official Fun Fun Fun Fest Family Funday from 4-8 p.m.! Free bowling, roller skating, arcade games, DJs, snacks, heavy metal face painting & more! You can check watch 2 free movies — Uncle Buck at 4:30 p.m. and Xanadu at 6:30 p.m. While entry is free, please consider making a $5 suggested donation at the door that will go directly toward Girls Rock Austin.
— Head on over to Top Notch Hamburgers to check out cool cars, live music and a classic movie on the big screen at their monthly Hot Rod Drive-In Night! You can check out the hot rods at 6 p.m., and live music starts at 7 p.m.
— Take the kids to the Bullock Texas State History Museum for their monthly Free First Sunday event! Enjoy free admission and special family programs from 12-3 p.m. with this month’s theme — Under the Sea!
— Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum will host their Free Family Day from noon – 4 p.m. today! Bring the the kids for yoga, story time, art and music in the beautiful gardens.
— Free, family-friendly Sunday-Fundays are back at Neill-Cochran House Museum. You can stop by this historic home today from 1 – 4 p.m. for historically-inspired activities for kids, scavenger hunts in the house, and informal tours of the museum. Today, kids will make pinhole cameras. (Take note that Sunday-Fundays will take place every first Sunday of the month.)
— Head out for some end of summer fun at Cedar Park’s annual Splash Jam today at Elizabeth Milburn Park. This annual back to school bash will feature activities that begin at 5 p.m., including live music, face painting, hamster balls, carnival rides and games (for small fees) and free inflatables. The night concludes with a fireworks show around 8:30 p.m.!
