— It’s opening day of the 7th Annual Sherwood Forest Faire! Transport your family back in time at this fun-filled Medieval-themed Faire based on the tales of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Enjoy faeries, swordplay, theatre, magic, comedy, and games. Located in McDade, Texas, the Faire is set in a 23-acre village in a wooded setting that features shoppes, pubs, restaurants and stages. Hours today are from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Ticket prices at the gate are $23 per adult (age 13+), $13 per youth (ages 6-12) and free for kids ages 5 & under. Austin Creative Reuse is hosting their official Grand Opening Celebration from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and you’re all welcome to stop by. The celebration will start with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and will continue with free paper crafting, reuse games and refreshments. This innovative nonprofit retail center collects, sells, and distributes donated reusable materials such as art supplies, fabric, beads, yarn, paper and much more. Check it out.

— The Hill Country Science Mill is celebrating their 1st Birthday with free admission from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.! Exploding bottles, flying balls, an electric pickle and other science demonstrations will be in the Science Mill’s backyard from 1-2 p.m., courtesy of special guest, The University of Texas Physics Circus. Throughout the day, kids can check out smoke ring air cannons, an interactive Lissagraph, a large-scale interactive fruit piano and a slow motion photo booth.

— The audience at ZACH Theatre‘s Tomás and the Library Lady are in for an extra special treat today at 2 p.m. Author Pat Mora will be in attendance for a q&a session, and every child in the audience will get a free book. This children’s story tells an inspirational story of a boy named Tomás who meets a “library lady” who encourages him to read. Youth tickets are $12 and adult tickets are $15, which you can purchase online here or call the box office at 512-476-0541 x1.

— Attention all junior scientists… it’s Darwin Day 2016. Celebrate the 207th anniversary of Darwin’s birth at a free event featuring kids’ activities such as a fossil dig, scavenger hunt, Darwin photo-op, paleontology presentation, coloring, crafts, face painting, book readings, and birthday cake. Events take place from 12-5 p.m. at the University of Texas Commons Learning Center at the JJ Pickle Research Campus.

— Get out and enjoy the spring-like weather at Independence Brewing Company. They’re hosting a family-friendly event full of baby animals and beer at their White Rabbit Release Party from 1-10 p.m. They will tap their first keg of White Rabbit Ale for the grown-ups, and Tiny Tails to You Traveling Petting Zoo will be there with bunnies and furry friends to entertain the kids ($2 per session). Live music, brewery tours and great food add to the fun.

— Cheer on the Texas Rollergirls in their season opener today at their South Austin space called The Blood Shed. These amazing, tough ladies will show you a thing or two about “girl power” and inspire you and your kids with their rollerskating skills and sassy personas. The double-header starts at 6 p.m. with a bout featuring the Hotrod Honeys vs Honky Tonk Heartbreakers. — HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! —

— Spend your Valentine’s Day in the picturesque Umlauf Sculpture Garden. Today is their monthly Free Family Day with fun activities from noon – 4 p.m. Bring the kids for yoga, story time, art & music in the beautiful gardens full of sculptures that are okay for the kids to touch.

Pippi Longstocking is back by popular demand at the Austin Scottish Rite Theatre. See her entertain kids of all ages along with a horse on the porch, a monkey in the kitchen and her best friends, Tommy & Annika. You can catch the show today at 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 per child (ages 12 & under) and $12 for ages 13 & up. Tickets can be purchased at the door before the show or online here.
