— Check out hot rods and more at the 15th Annual Lonestar Round Up where hot rods, classic cars and bikes will take over the Travis County Expo Center on today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at this huge vintage car show. You’ll also be able to enjoy live music, a swap meet, art show, lots of vendors and food, too. Click here for schedule info. Admission is $15 at the gate. Kids 12 and under free! General parking is also free.
— The Thinkery invites LEGO®-lovers to unite tonight for an epic evening of brick building, art, engineering, food and tons of family fun. The 2nd Annual Bricks & Blocks Bonanza is an exclusive after-hours party from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. where you can join brick building experts for a night of creative play. — Elmo, Grover and all of their Sesame Street pals are coming to the Frank Erwin Center in a fun live show called Make a New Friend. You can see them today at 10 a.m. & 7 p.m. or throughout the weekend. Click here for all showtimes and for tickets, starting at $15 and up.
— Get the kids involved in giving back to Austin with some hands-on volunteering. Sign up to participate in Clean Sweep, a city-wide service day hosted by Keep Austin Beautiful. This annual event results in the removal of over 29 tons of trash removed by 4,000 volunteers. Following the clean-up work, there is a fun volunteer party featuring lunch, live music, children’s environmental activities, recycled art, a unique object contest, door prizes and more at Fiesta Gardens! — Take the kids fishing at McKinney Falls State Park. Today from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., families with kids ages 5 & up can participate in a program called Go Fish! where you’ll learn how to fish with the guidance of friends from Texas State Parks. The fishing program is free, but will still need to pay regular park entrance fees: $6 for adults, free for children ages 12 & under.
— It’s World Puppetry Day featuring free films and puppet workshops at the Dougherty Arts Center, hosted by Noel MacNeal, known for his performance as Bear in the Big Blue House, Between the Lions, Puzzle Place, and Eureeka’s Castle. See free family friendly films at 1 p.m. and then take part in a puppet workshop at 2 p.m., with suggested donation. Click here for free tickets to the films.
–Magician Michael Carbonaro is bringing his blend of bizarre antics, audience interaction, hilarious video clips, and mind-blowing magic, live on stage at Bass Concert Hall tonight at 7 p.m. Tickets for this all ages show are $34.50 which you can purchase online here.
— Join fellow runners in downtown Austin for the Statesman Capitol 10K. This family-friendly events encourages you to run, walk, push that baby stroller, or even bring along your pup for a race through Austin’s picturesque downtown.
