— Take the kids to Mueller Lake Park Amphitheater for a free, family-friendly night of music. KUTX Live features El Tule at 7 p.m. followed by Tameca Jones at 7:45 p.m. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, meet your friends. Food trucks will also be onsite. Free parking is available in the Mueller garage, adjacent to the Thinkery.
— It’s National Train Day! — Austin Splash Pads open today! All Austin splash pads are free, and they will be open daily from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. through September. So grab your towels and sunscreen and let the kids splash the day away! Click here for a full list of area splash pads.
— Make Wired & Weird sculptures today at the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden and Museum. Kids Kraft is a NEW series of art workshops for kids in grades K-2 with the focus on making art using green materials and recycled supplies. Workshops are from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and the cost is $10 members/ $15 non-members. To participate, you must register online here.
— Head over to the Thinkery today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. for FREE admission in celebration of National Instruments’ 40th anniversary in Austin. Future engineers and young scientists will have the opportunity to explore the museum and see NI’s technology in action through hands-on activities including robotics, maker activities, interactive stations and more. — Join a free health & wellness fair with dance, yoga, acro, zumba classes and plenty of fun for kids. Keep Austin Well, the annual community wellness event hosted by Austin MD Magazine, will take place on the lawn of The Domain from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Check out the children’s play and craft area, face-painting, healthy food demonstrations, complimentary medical testing and much more.
— Check out Pollyanna Theatre Company’s latest play for children at 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. today at the Long Center. Young Bear: The Story of Frances Slocum is inspired by the true events of a young girl who lived with Native Americans in the Mid-West in the 1800s. The play follows takes children on an imaginative journey through a different time and place. Suited for kids in grades 2-5. Tickets are $12, which you can purchase online here.
— Celebrate diverse cultures at the International Multicultural Festival at Pan Am Park from noon – 10 p.m. There will be live entertainment, arts and crafts, plenty of vendors selling food and drinks and more. Free admission!
— There are only a few chances left to see Alice in Wonderland at ZACH Theatre. Catch a performance today at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. In this unique adaption, the audience starts in the theatre and then follows Alice around ZACH’s campus on an adventure, meeting familiar characters, and helping to defeat the Red Queen. — Check out Birds Barbershop 10th Birthday Blowout from 2-6 p.m. at the South Lamar location. This family-friendly event will feature performances from the Barton Hills Choir and other neighborhood entertainers.
