This weekend you can take the kids to a family campout in Round Rock, run through a huge corn maze at Barton Hill Farms, enjoy the Pecan Street Festival, see free magic shows, enter a mini-golf tournament — and so much more!
— Go on an easy camping experience in the convenient location of Old Settler’s Park. The annual Outdoor Family Campout starts today at 4 p.m. Pop your tent around the Lakeview Pavilion, eat dinner provided by Hat Creek Burger Company, play games, sit around the campfire eating s’mores and then off to sleep under the stars. Wake up and enjoy breakfast, and then check out plenty of morning activities that celebrate National Hunting & Fishing Day! Advanced registration for the campout is required, which you can do online here (course code 655). The registration fee is $10 per person, and includes meals & activities. (Children ages 2 and under are free.)
— Barton Hill Farms Fall Festival & Corn Maze opens today! Navigate a corn maze, pick out pumpkins, go on a mini-train ride, play games, listen to live music and enjoy plenty of fall fun with the family! Barton Hill Farms will be open today through November 13 on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (as well as Columbus Day). General admission is $14 and includes all of the activities available. Children ages 2 and under are free. SAVE $1 by ordering tickets in advance here.
— Stop by the Grand Opening Celebration of Pinballz Lake Creek starting at 10 a.m. and running with special events all day. Take photos with Ghostbusters actors and vehicle, as well as with Doc and the Back to the Future DeLorean. Austin Humane Society will be on site with pet adoptions from 12-3 p.m., Kids can take pinball lessons from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., and the evening will include a performance by Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies at 9 p.m. Click here for more info.
— Head over to Northwest Recreation Center from 12 – 3 p.m. for the annual Family Fun Fest and Diaper Drive benefitting Austin Diaper Bank. You can expect giveaways, magic shows, Disney princesses, a bouncy house, photo booth, reptile show, classes for kids, and much more! This is a free event, but please bring diapers or dollars to donate!
— Spend a fun afternoon at Peter Pan Mini-Golf at Spark Learning’s 3rd Annual Putt Fore Autism Mini-Golf Tournament! Held from 12-3 p.m., this mini-golf tournament is open to children and adults of all ages and abilities, and 100% of proceeds will support Autism Speaks. The entry fee is $10, with an additional $4 for club and ball rental.
— Update: The Home Slice Carnival O’Pizza is being postponed until November 12 due to the chance of inclement weather. Take your little homies to a big, crazy pizza party at the 11th Annual Carnival O’ Pizza at Home Slice Pizza from 12-7 p.m. Kids of all ages will have fun with over-the-top pizza-themed activities, carnival-inspired games, music, dancing, a photo booth, contests and prizes! Free admission, but tickets will be sold for games and food. Proceeds benefit Austin Bat Cave.
— Get ready for a magical afternoon of free family entertainment at The Vortex from 3-7 p.m. “Magic in the Garden” is a free family festival with a dozen different magicians performing, strolling entertainers, balloon twisting and sample classes from Fantastic Magic Camp. — Update: This event has been postponed to October 22 due to weather. Plan for a sweet Saturday night at Mueller Lake Park Amphitheater where McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra will host their annual free Movie Music in the Park event featuring a free concert of favorite hits from movies throughout the years starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by a screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory starting at dusk. Free!
— Spend the day at a street festival full of music, art, shopping, food, games for kids. You can plan on all of this excitement and more at the 36th Annual Fall Pecan Street Festival in Austin’s Sixth Street Historic District today from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Plus, this longstanding Austin tradition is totally FREE to attend! — Visit the HOPE Farmers Market at Plaza Saltillo for their annual East Side County Fair from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Special vendors will include face painting Tiny Tails to You Austin’s Traveling Petting Zoo Bastrop Animal Rescue Austin Acro Community and more. Johnson’s Backyard Garden will have fried veggie samples, and games include a Corn Hole in One tournament, hooping contest, a cake walk, chalk art contest.
