Here are our Top 10 Austin Family Events!
Friday:
— Get some Free Snow Cones at Skinny Limits from 7 am – 7 pm. Their snow cones are the real deal, with no artificial flavors, chemicals or dyes, and they are made with real fruit.
— Pee Wee’s Big Adventure will screen at Dittmar Recreation Center for their Movie in the Park event at 8:30 pm. Free!
— The X Games Austin are HERE! All weekend long, you can catch big air at the Circuit of the Americas and see music performances from artists like Gary Clark Jr., Flaming Lips, Kayne West and much more. There will be nine interactive villages including The Playground, Gaming Shack and a Texas Ranch. Tickets range from $39 – $165 with the General Admission passes costing $89. You can buy them here.
Saturday:
— The Best Morning Ever: Hasbro Studios Cartoon Breakfast at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin will be a morning of cartoons, pancakes and cereal. You and the kiddos can come in your PJs and enjoy episodes of My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop and Transformers Rescue Bots. 8 – 10:30 am, free with RSVP.
— The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake Grand Opening will be at Lakeshore Metro Park at 10 am. The Boardwalk will close the 1.1 mile gap in the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, joining east and west Austin and creating a much safer route for the 3,000 – 15,000 people that use the Trail everyday. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, a march led by the Eastside Panther Drumline and a very special aerial performance from Blue Lapis Light, where they will suspend from the IH-35 bridge.
— Have an Awesome Animal Morning at Millie & Mox at 10 am. Kids can hold, pet and learn about tiny animals and get a free picture of them and their new animal friend. Playing with the animals is free!
— Kids 16 and under are invited to catch their fair share of fish at KIDFISH on Lake Pflugerville. Over 200 pounds of fish will be let loose in Lake Pflugerville for the event. Starts at 9 am on the south shore, 18216 Weiss Ln., free to participate, registration is appreciated. A limited amount of free poles, bait and tackle will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sunday:
— Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries will be at the Long Center at 3 pm. Watch as the gang gets called to solve an epic mystery involving a trouble-making ghost at a local theater. Don’t pull a “ruh-roh” and miss this! Tickets are $19 – $69 (VIP) and you can buy them here.
— See some family friendly improv at The Hideout Theatre at 3 pm. Flying Theater Machine presents: Wonderland, a magical, silly place, full of excitement and strange characters. Kids 4 – 10 will LOVE this interactive show. Tickets are $7 and you can buy them here.
— Free Kids Show at Cherrywood Coffeehouse with the Groundwork Music Orchestra at 10 am. Get some coffee and breakfast and let the kids jam!
