Here are our Top 10 Austin Family events…
Friday:
— Wake up and jam out to some free Music for Kids at the Austin Public Library Windsor Park Branch with Gina Chavez at 11 am.
— The Cedar Park Rodeo kicks off at the Cedar Park Center at 7 pm with bareback riding, bull riding, team roping, mutton busting and a lot more. The rodeo continues throughout the weekend, wrapping up with a PBR Challenge on Sunday. Tickets range from $15 – $25 and you can buy them here. Parking at the Cedar Park Center costs $10 CASH.
— Watch “Finding Nemo” at the El Salido Pool in the Anderson Mill Limited District at dusk (8:30 pm). Food trucks will be open from 5 – 8 pm and the movie is free and open to everyone. If you arrive before the movie, admission rates will apply.
Saturday:
— Sample food from some of the best restaurants around at Taste of North Austin at The Domain. Enjoy free admission and live music while you try all of the deliciousness and let the kids have fun with face painting, caricatures, balloon twisting and other activities. $20 will get you 10 tastings and for just $10 more you can get VIP wristbands which will also get you shaded and comfortable seating, two drink tickets and a goody bag. Wristbands can be purchased at Guest Services at The Domain.
— The Exploring Austin with Kids Book Signing at the Texas State Capitol will have activities for the kids from author, Annette Lucksinger, along with other edutainment for children to delve into. Families can check out the Visitors Center and do fun stuff like Texas trivia, dress up like ranchers and learn about Texas’s independence and a lot more. Free to attend, book signing means you gotta buy the book! 11 am – 3 pm.
— ERTH’s Dinosaur Zoo Live will have shows at 10:30 am and 1 pm at the Long Center. This show is the ultimate playdate! State-of-the-art puppetry will give you and your kids the chance to observe, meet and interact with life-like dinosaurs and other creatures. Tickets are $22 – $59 and you can buy them here.
— Family Fun Saturdays at the French Legation Museum offer guided tours of the historic house along with kid-friendly activities. This weekend it’s Marble Madness, and kids can make their own set of clay marbles and learn how to play the marble game, Ringer. Tours of the house are $5 for 6 and up and free for kids 5 and under. Tours are at 1:15 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.
Sunday:
— It’s Kids Day at Round Rock Express! Celebrate with inflatables, giveaways, pre-game events outside the stadium and a post-game run of the bases for ages 12 and under. Game starts at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm at Dell Diamond. Tickets are $7 – $16 and you can buy them here.
— — Wake up and jam out to some free Music for Kids at the Austin Public Library Faulk Central Branch with Lucas Miller at 2 pm.
— Relax on the lawn of the Long Center with the Austin Symphony for their Concerts in the Park. Free, 7:30 pm, this weekend enjoy a special performance from the Strings section. Bring a picnic dinner and have fun!
