All aboard! Time to ride the rails this Saturday, Aug. 30 when the Hill Country Flyer sets off from Austin Steam Train‘s Cedar Park depot for a ride through the Texas Hill Country. The train departs at 10 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. for a fun day out with the family.
The 66 mile round trip ride aboard the Hill Country Flyer is Austin Steam Train’s original and most popular train ride! The train, pulled by a 1960 Alco diesel locomotive, travels to Burnet through the Texas Hill Country, crossing the wooden trestle bridge over the S. San Gabriel River and traveling through Short Creek Canyon. You can enjoy your own lunch, a leisurely stroll around the square, and even watch a wild west gunfight during the two and a half hour layover in Burnet.
The train departs from Cedar Park Depot at 10 a.m. and returns around 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance online and range from $21 – $51, depending on your choice of seats.
