If your older kids are into the spooky side of Halloween, this is the list for you. We’ve rounded up Austin’s top places for a Halloween scare, from haunted houses to spooky hayrides. Please check each site’s age recommendation before you go – many of these recommend ages 12 +.
House of Torment via Yelp
House of Torment | House of Torment has been called “The Scariest Haunted House in America” by The Travel Channel, with its jump scares, and insanely spooky attractions. In addition to its main attractions, House of Torment also has ad-ons like mini-escape games, axe throwing, a respawn pass to go through the attractions again, a zombie simulation, and more. Scream Hollow Wicked Halloween Park| Located about an hour from Austin, Scream Hollow offers so much Halloween fun. With five attractions to scare you silly, this experience is the total package for a Halloween night out, complete with a band, a beer garden, food, bonfires, a gift shop, and more. Bat City Scaregrounds via Yelp
Bat City Scaregrounds | With three horrifying attractions, live music, food, Vegas-style performances, and more, Bat City Scaregrounds is just the place for a Halloween-filled evening. Bat City Scaregrounds is just a 15-minute drive from downtown Austin, and you’ll be immersed in hours of entertainment. Tickets start at $25, depending on the night, here.
Scare for a Cure | Scare For A Cure is 100 percent volunteer based, and both mentors youth and raises money for the Brast Cancer Resource Center and other charities. Scare for A Cure’s haunted adventure is an hour long (and recommended for ages 13+) and will leave you “covered in blood and gore”. Their words. SixFlags Fiesta Texas via Yelp
Fright Fest at SixFlags Fiesta Texas | During the day, SixFlags Fiesta Park is a Kids Boo Fest, and in the evening, the amusement park turns into Fright Fest, complete with haunted houses and live performances. The rides are open during both, and you can get all the info here. Please note: for the evening Fright Fest, all guests 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is 21+ and you can get details here.
Harry Potter Forbidden Forrest Experience | While this magical event doesn’t begin in Austin until November 9, 2024, we wanted to put this on your radar because we’re already seeing tickets sell out on certain days. At the Harry Potter Forbidden Forrest Experience, you’ll follow a woodland trail full of interactive moments and beautiful lighting. You’ll even get to use your wand to conjure spells. There will be Harry Potter-inspired food and drinks for purchase – grab your tickets here!
