Bug Night Out at the Wildflower Center

For kids, everything is more fun by flashlight — especially hunting for bugs! On Saturday, Oct. 4, you can take your little explorers to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for a Bug Night Out from 7-9 p.m. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to explore the Family Garden at night while you hunt for insects on a guided flashlight tour.

If you arrive early, you can try out a “bug-themed dinner” in the Cafe. (How curious, right?). Then join a guided flashlight tour at 7 p.m. or explore the gardens on your own, if you prefer. Just don’t forget to bring your own flashlight since the store will be closed at that hour.

The Wildflower Center will also have several mercury light stations, which attract some of the coolest critters of the night! While you’re exploring, keep a look out for the Dirt Critter Exploration Station and the Night Time Pollination Station.

Admission to the Wildflower Center is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and children 13 and up, $4 for children ages 5-12, and free for children ages 4 and younger as well as members.

Have fun! We hope you find some awesome creepy crawly ones!
